With its multi-disciplinary capability, The Aveng Group has delivered extensive projects to its clients in the commercial and industrial sectors of the economy. Its capability includes the design, development, construction and project management.
The Group’s operating companies have an entrenched reputation for their successful completion of a vast portfolio of projects across a broad spectrum of segments spanning:
Core to its success are its extensive resources and skills, which can manage all types of building contracts under a range of contract conditions.
The R1.77 billion first phase of the Sandton City redevelopment, undertaken by Liberty Properties on behalf of the property's owners Liberty Group (75%) and Pareto Ltd (25%), will expand and improve the centre to enhance its leading position in the retail sector. It involves interior refurbishments and the addition of 30 000m2 of new retail space. The complex installation of a unique roof - a texlon "bubble" - imported from the United Kingdom, and used for the first time ever in South Africa - formed part of the scope of work.
The Sedibeng Brewery contract initially consisted of the construction of 21 production buildings including a silo, production and bottling facilities, warehousing and a water treatment plant. Aveng Grinaker-LTA was subsequently awarded the construction of the architectural buildings as well as a ready-to-drink plant and Phase 2 of the brewery, including extensions to the bottling hall, distribution warehouse and the waste water treatment plant. Construction in Phase 1 included 45 000m3 of concrete poured, laying of 2,3 million bricks.
Set to bolster South Africa's fight against crime, the 17 000 m2 facility incorporates state-of-the-art design features and a sophisticated security system. Aveng Grinaker-LTA also coordinated the installation of high tech equipment by various specialist sub-contractors, and work according to a strict security protocol. The development consists of five separate arms accommodating the various specialised investigation units. These radiate from a central hub in a semi-circular “star” pattern.
The Singapore Land Transport Authority awarded McConnell Dowell the design and construct contract for the new Beauty World Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) underground station and associated tunnels.
The contract scope of work comprises: the design and construction of two MRT tunnels - 1,100 m bored tunnels with an internal diameter of 5.8 m, two cross passages and 135 m of cut-and-cover tunnels; the design and construction of a new underground station including station entrances, subway links, architectural finishes and external landscaping.
The 75 000m2 new Corporate Head Office for tenants, FNB Home Loans and Wesbank, was completed in 2008. The new office park, located at the intersection of Beyers Naudé drive and the N1 Western Bypass, enabled the tenants to consolidate their existing office facilities to a single location. The project’s design included extensive features to reduce its impact on the environment with the result that its energy demand is 10% less than most other buildings in South Africa.
The project, which was delivered by McConnell Dowell’s building business, Built Environs, involved the construction of extensive new entertainment and events facility as well as supporting infrastructure and civil works. It was a landmark in environmental design, featuring two 3,5 million litre underground stormwater storage tanks fed from the roof. The award-winning contract was completed on schedule and to the highest possible quality standards, delivering an extremely versatile entertainment and events venue.
