Through its subsidiaries, leading infrastructure development company Aveng, has in excess of 50 years’ experience in the construction and maintenance of rail systems in Southern Africa. Aveng has built and sustained the railroad networks of South Africa, Swaziland, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique. With an extensive track maintenance fleet, their expertise includes rail track construction and maintenance; building of rail construction and maintenance machines and rail wagons; supply of concrete main line sleepers; turnout sleepers; universal sleepers; mine sleepers; electrification poles; pipes and culverts. The various types of pre-stressed concrete sleepers range from heavy haul 30-ton axle load sleepers to 18.5 ton sliding sleepers.
Building on this heritage, Aveng looks to strengthening and expanding its rail products and services in Africa, the Middle East and Australia. The rail business, represented by Aveng Manufacturing Rail Services, continues to pursue projects in the rail sector throughout the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and other developing economies. In external markets the business in partnership with McConnell Dowell, to pursue opportunities in the Australian rail sector, taking advantage of strong group synergies in terms of expertise, innovation, skills and facilities.
